Story 0002 - Alien Encounter

(Submitted by anonymous)
I was traveling on state route 95 in Nevada (about 90 miles North of Las Vegas). The moonless night and lack of any traffic made my car a cocoon of coziness as I sped along. Being this close to the infamous area 51, my frazzled mind was wandering along the path of Aliens, etc. Suddenly I felt my car swerve a little bit and to my shock, I almost ran over an upright form standing on the shoulder. I slammed on my brakes and the car rattled to a halt. My heart was pumping so rapidly that I though it would jump out of my chest and run away (huh?). I looked in my rearview mirror and in the red glow of my only working brake light,; I could see this form moving quickly towards me. It was covered in a long coat of some sort and had a hood over it’s head. For some reason, my non-existent bravery showed up and made me lower my passenger side window. The form came up to the window, and peered inside, even though the hood prevented me from seeing much of its facial features, I did know that it was peering.

In a very guttural voice, it spoke English in a very strong accent that I vaguely placed..
“You take me somewhere”
“Huh? Where?”
“Ponix”
“Ponix? Oh, you mean Phoenix?!”
“Ya. Ponix.”
I dumped the papers, fast food wrappers, and other miscellaneous objects that always populated my seats, onto the floor and did open the door to let this form into my car. It promptly removed the hood and to my surprise looked very much like a human being. I was curious and asked.
“What are you doing here in this god forsaken area?”
“I traveled many kilometers and must get to Ponix”
The accent was very familiar.
“You are not from here, are you?”
“No actually not. I am....what you call it...an Alien.”
My breath stopped, my brain cell (that’s right....it is singular....the only intact one) just froze in confusion and recognition.
“Alien?”
“Adhay! I am a resident Alien from Kerala who has to get to Ponix to participate in some Onam function.”
